DIL Production Planning Management System (Phase 1) is a web-based platform for ATI Limited to digitize pharmaceutical blister production planning at DIL. It replaces manual spreadsheets used for scheduling 15 blister machines, handling monthly demand, daily routines, and mid-month disruptions like breakdowns or rush orders.

DIL - Production Planning Management System

About the project

The system has two roles: Production Planner (full control, approves all changes) and Production Officer (factory floor, logs actuals and reports issues, can't approve).

Core modules:

  1. Machine & Product Setup – Define specs (RPM, cuts, pack size) for each blister machine and product. Auto-calculates expected output per hour. Supports syncing one machine's setup to multiple others.
  2. Demand & Batch Definition – Capture monthly demand from Head Office/VAT systems, convert into batches using standard batch sizes.
  3. Global Calendar – Set holidays, weekly off days, shift hours per month. Calculates total available machine hours.
  4. Daily Routine Scheduling – Core scheduling screen. Auto-allocates batches into free machine hours across days, enforces "continuous run" (can't switch products mid-batch), handles partial allocations, and defers anything that doesn't fit by month-end. Schedule locks 10 days into the month. Includes end-of-day actuals entry with variance tracking and carryover logic.
  5. Deviation Management – Handles breakdowns, transfers, sudden demand, and demand cuts after the schedule is locked. Uses a "Displacement Squeeze" — new urgent items push out existing ones into a "Deferred Product Queue," which the Planner resolves later (reschedule, overtime, split, or discard with audit trail). A "Day-Prior Lock" prevents editing past schedules.

Compliance: Built for GAMP 5 and 21 CFR Part 11 — role-based access, full audit trails (who/what/when/before-after values) for all scheduling changes.

Core value: no production target is lost during disruptions; everything displaced goes into a tracked queue until resolved, while keeping an audit-ready compliance trail.

My contributions & impact

Converted the complete Business Requirement Document into UI wireframes and screen designs for all 5 core modules (Machine Setup, Demand Intake, Calendar Configurator, Routine Scheduler, Deviation Manager).

Designed the interactive Day-Wise Routine Scheduler grid, including auto-allocation logic visualization, vacant-hour tracking, and partial batch indicators.

Designed the Deferred Product Manager split-screen sidebar, covering the Displacement Squeeze workflow and 5 resolution paths.

Mapped RBAC-driven UI states for Production Planner vs Production Officer roles.

Defined API requirements from each screen's data needs and translated UI interactions into backend endpoint specs, guiding the backend developer on request/response contracts, validation rules, and auto-calculation logic (batch counts, expected output, variance).

Acted as bridge between business requirements and backend implementation, ensuring API design matched complex constraints (Continuous Run Lock, Day-Prior Lock, Vacant Space Threshold).
